This Gragnano born, bronze extruded is traditionally known as gomiti or in the States as elbow macaroni. Traditional macaroni is usually straight, the "elbow" version has a slight bend and is cut length-wise. Originally used in northern Italian soups, this cut is all-purpose and pairs equally well in salads, baked dishes or just by itself with a nice light pasta sauce. It's most famous iteration "mac and cheese" is actually evolved from the Swiss alpine herder's classic macaroni recipe.
